Its my birthday when we visited Ilustrado Restaurant in Intramuros, it was my wife special treat for me on my important day. The word Ilustrado refers to me as an elite class of rich Filipino during the Spanish occupation in the Philippines. But in today's Ilustrado Restaurant refers to catering the elite taste of people whose palates are conversant in savoring the exotic, cosmopolitan and neo-classic flavors of international and Filipino cuisine as indicated on their web site.
These restaurant that is found inside the walled city of Intramurus opposite to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
had hosted different events from ordinary wedding reception to an
international event or high profile event such as The Miss Universe
Pageant which is held in Manila, and served high profile personalities
from ambassadors to the King and Queen of Spain, and also served as the
official catering service to Malacanang Palace.
We
arrived early for lunch and ate a simple yet very delicious meal, a
must try is the sampaguita ice cream that taste just right for my palate
and smells, just why it was called, sampaguita. Many people from
various class also eat and dine at the restaurant. In fact, it was full
of people from offices and schools having their break for lunch. And at
the Garden, service crew are busy preparing for the wedding venue which
is very beautiful although its not completely finished yet.
After lunch, we tried to explore the antique, art and craft shops called Silahis which is also located at the compound.
By the way, art and craft shop is the entrance door you will passed by to get to Ilustrado.
